So, today there was a mandatory orientation for all the new Nursing students that got accepted into the program. There was many missing (not good for them) and several in the auditorium who I think were scared at wits end after the orientation was finished! I can for sure say they will be dropping like flies by the end of the first semester! See a bunch of these girls cheated in all their classes! You know the ones who sit in the back and talk during lecture and use their cell phones to google answers or tape the answers to their water bottles! Some of them just don't have the heart for it. You can tell they only want to be a nurse because of the pay, which let's face it, if you can't handle BM or bed baths you are going to fail.
To let all you pre nursing students know I am going to post websites and documents I copy to help you out! Aren't I nice!? We all have to stick together because this is a whole different world than other careers! My first piece of advice is to READ READ READ! Yes, you need to read your material at least 3 times! You also need to learn it and not memorize it! Everything you learn in a class will carry over to your other classes. Also, work on your percents, fractions, decimals, and ratio/proportion. These are the main types of math you will use through nursing! Also, if you can start practicing blood pressure! You can get the tools you need pretty cheap (I bought mine in a hospital that I was living in for a week) Here is a link to show you how if you don't know already: http://blog.suntechmed.com/blog/32-bp-measurement/220-10-steps-to-accurate-manual-blood-pressure-measurement
So there is my talking for the day....I will get more humorous as I go, just trying to make my way through this!
Here is my question to you: What kinds of things would you like to read about on this blog? I am a mommy, bride to be, nursing student, soon to be pharmacy tech, jokster, worrier, animal lover.. I am aiming to reach out to everyone although a lot of this will talk about nursing and wedding plans, oh and my kids! I am open to suggestions and if you are a nursing student what tips do you have?
